Monday night, U.S. Representative Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) assailed the Chicago Police Department's murderous coverup and "blue wall of silence," involving in the death of Laquan McDonald, an unarmed 17-year-old boy who was shot 16 times by a Chicago police officer.

He called the problem of African-American males being killed at the hands of police officers as a persistent, decade-old problem in America.

"Shakespeare would be proud [of] the fiction that was put out there to justify the murder of this 17-year-old," said Jeffries,a member of the House Judiciary Committee and Whip of the Congressional Black Caucus,. "It's not just the excessive use of force, it's the fact that far too many officers participate actively in covering up what has occurred."
