In honor of giving thanks and as we approach the holiday of gratitude and togetherness, New York Council Member Laurie A. Cumbo and ONOS Footprints distributed more than 400 packages to local residents, a Turkey Meal Giveaway and Wellness Day held at the Prospect Heights High School Campus on Saturday.

"As a community, we have a shared responsibility to look after one another and to help those in need. Through partnerships with community-based organizations, such as Onos Footprints, local businesses and city agencies, we have ensured that families within the 35th Council District will enjoy a hearty holiday meal," said Council Member Laurie A. Cumbo.

"We, at Onos Footprints, are committed to changing the lives of the people in our community for the better. Through our various programs, we make strides to reach our goal. Partnering with Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo's office for the second year in row,  has made our 5th Annual Turkey Meal Giveaway and Wellness Day, reach over 400 families," Shari Bucknor, Director of Operations, Onos Footprints.

Recognizing the prevalence of diet-related illnesses such as obesity and diabetes in communities of color, The Brooklyn Hospital Center was on-site to provide free health screenings while Emblem Health assisted with health insurance enrollment.
