It's back: a chance to clean your slate!

On Saturday, November 21, from 9:00am — 3:00pm at Soul Saving Station Church in Manhattan, located at 302 W. 124th St. (at Frederick Douglas Blvd), a judge and court attorneys will be on hand to vacate (dismiss) all warrants that have resulted from summons for minor offenses.

Sponsored by the office of New York County District Attorney's office, "Clean Slate," much like Brooklyn D.A. Thompson's "Begin Again," is a community initiative that helps individuals clear up outstanding summons related warrants. Participating individuals will be represented by attorneys from the Legal Aid Society, and judges and court clerks will be on hand to vacate warrants that have resulted from summonses for minor offenses.

An unanswered summons will eventually lead to an arrest warrant, and an outstanding warrant can affect one's ability to apply for a job or obtain public housing, hinder an application for citizenship (naturalization) and prevent one from receiving some student loans.

These offenses may include trespassing, spitting, loitering, disorderly conduct, walking an unleashed dog, drinking alcohol in public, drinking alcohol underage, riding a bicycle on the sidewalk, making unreasonable noise, etc.

More than 2000 people have attended these warrant vacation events this year alone, all of whom received some type of assistance.

Erase that scar off of your record, and get a clean slate! Spread the word!
