As stories of racial profiling resonate with Brooklyn audiences and across the country, The Center for Arts & Culture at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation and The Billie Holiday Theatre have announced they will extend the already sold-out run of "12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today."

The theatre production is the centerpiece component of Restoration's Project Protest: The Art of Revolution.

Directed by Tony Award-winner George Faison, the show portrays the stories of everyday men subjected to racial profiling, based upon the book "12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today," edited by Gregory S. Parks and Matthew W. Hughey and published by The New Press.

While accounts of the stinging experience of racial profiling have been passed down as an contemptable legacy to generations of African-American men, recent high-profile cases have drawn an alarmed reaction across the country, challenging local police, politicians and law enforcement agencies to acknowledge the urgency of this injustice.

"The protests of the 60s have re-erupted, as people, especially young people, are coming together to demand answers of our society," said Faison. "This is where theater is at its finest. In '12 Angry Men,' artists and audiences are finding some way to become active, some way to become a part of this movement towards freedom."

Each of the performances will be preceded by an open pre-show talk, giving attendees an opportunity to share their own experiences and perspectives about racial profiling and the impact it has upon the community.
