Fall into a Fun Weekend!

The weekend is here, the weekend is here! Ok, it comes every week, but it still feels good. We get an extension on it, since Columbus day is on Monday.

The weekend is here, the weekend is here! Ok, it comes every week, but it still feels good. We get an extension on it, since Columbus day is on Monday. In light of the occasion, I will randomly walk into people's homes and say I discovered it, so if you see me coming with blankets and bad intentions, open the door and warmly welcome me. Autumn is clearly in the air, which means that its also cuffing season; so take the opportunity to enjoy some cool events and work on finding your winter BAE.

FRIDAY

BOUNCE ROCK SKATE ROLL
BOUNCE ROCK SKATE ROLL

Brooklyn Skates. 110 Kosciuszko St. Fridays. 8pm-1am

Rollerskating is classic fun. In this age of the Phunkee Duck, rollerskates are a welcome throwback to a time when wheels on your feet was far more simple. It's actually a gymnasium and will never get confused with Empire Roller Disco, which was tore down a few years ago, and replaced with a beautiful storage facility (sarcasm), but for indoor skating, in the borough, Brooklyn Skates can't be beat.

SATURDAY

Parade Around Brooklyn This Weekend

Panamanian Pre Independence Day Parade.Bergen Street & Franklin Avenue. Saturday. 10:30am

Any day is a good day for a parade! Show your Panamanian pride or dive into the Panamanian culture by attending the parade and the street fair at the parades end on Classon between Eastern Parkway and President Street. It's the 20th annual celebration of Panama's independence from Columbia. It's a rain or shine situation, and if you head over to the Facebook event page, you can see some pictures of people marching with umbrellas, which is real commitment!

Before Twerking, there was the Bump and Hustle
Before Twerking, there was the Bump and Hustle

This a super funky get down, where DJs Dr. Love Jones and GeeRock The Gentleman play all vinyl, all night and keep it hot like fire. Expect deep cuts, tough beats and rare grooves and a bunch of dancing. If you can't dance at Bump & Hustle, then you are a lost cause. It's free and for the people. The superbly curated craft beer program and finely selected, artisinal wine list lets you liquidate your format, and is whatBed Vyne Brew is know for.  If you need more information and adjectives, visit their Facebook event page

Hood Snacks
Hood Snacks

Borders Collide. October 8th-10th (Friday-Sunday). Jack. 505 1/2 Waverly Avenue. 8pm. $20

Not sure what Ghetto Hors d'oeuves are, maybe cheez whiz on a ritz cracker, but this sounds super interesting. Jack has built a reputation for strong productions and won an Obie award this year, which is the Oscars of Off-Broadway Theatre, so it's a good bet that the show is worth the twenty bucks. Toss in food to the deal and it sounds like a no brainer. Perhaps that's where the Cheez Whis on a Ritz cracker comes into play! Check out their Facebook event page for more info.

Enlightenment By The Pound
Enlightenment By The Pound

Waking Sleep. Tarot Society. 4 Charles Place. Saturday-Monday. $16 for Weekend pass

This could be the perfect way to alter your reality for the Fall. It's all about exploration and transformation with this three day event, and the fact that it's open every minute of all three days, creates an amazing opportunity to "unearth the medicine of your mind", which is a direct quote from the flyer. If your mind is clouded and clogged, then this lucid dreaming lounge could be just what the doctor ordered, if you're doctor was a shaman. Mushrooms are not on the menu, though they will have endless soup and tea for sustenance!

Crawl Up In The WonderGround

Feast BedStuy-WonderGround Party-Beso, 370 Lewis Ave, 3pm

Feast BedStuy highlights the culinary options in BedStuy and it's an opportunity for you to breeze into some of the restaurants that you pass  to and from work, but never actually entered. It concentrates on Lewis Avenue, a commercial corridor that has seen a significant increase in restaurants and hospitality businesses over the last few years. When I lived off of Lewis just 5 years ago, it was almost a restaurant dessert, save for Peaches and that soul food joint with the uneven hours. WonderGround is having a party at Beso, during Feast BedStuy and a perfect opportunity to dine and dance, enjoy an al fresco mimosa in the backyard and enjoy a very Brooklyn Sunday. Go get your brunch crawl popping. Check out the Facebook event page, for more information
