Beer and wine enthusiasts: Mark your calendars!
On Sunday, October 4, get ready for The Judgement of Brooklyn, returning for its second year and bringing to Brooklyn one of the largest, premier selections of exotic beer and wine-- a consumer tasting like none other!
Presented by Keg & Cork-- the folks behind the Bed-Vyne collective-- this year's event will showcase 16 wines and 16 beers from across the United States, selected by a renowned team of industry experts and paired with the culinary artistry of Reynards-NYC. The theme is "East Coast vs West Coast,"and consumers will have a choice between one of two tasting sessions.
The event was inspired by the The Paris Wine Tasting of 1976 or the "Judgment of Paris," in which eleven French judges carried out two blind comparisons of red and white wines from California and Paris.
Similarly, Judgement of Brooklyn is a blind tasting competition of the wine and beer of both U.S. coasts, harnessing Brooklyn's burgeoning food scene scene all under one roof, putting its residents in the hot seat, and letting them be the judge.
"Brooklyn, the borough that sets all the trends, is the center of the universe for lovers of libations. At the Judgment of Brooklyn, the bar will be raised on our taste-making credentials," said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
Invited guests at this year's Judgement of Brooklyn include James "Beeracolyte" Tai, a certified cicerone and one of the city's premiere beer aficionados. Joining Tai will be Mr. Pedro Carvalho, senior executive at Aidil Wines & Spirits. The founder of Red Hook Winery and visionary winemaker, Abe Shoner will be in attendance, providing wine selections exclusively for this event only. All will conduct tasting seminars with Q&A during both sessions, providing an up-close-and-personal experience for all who attend.
Some notable participants in the beer category include Strong Ale Evil Twin Molotov Cocktail and Green Flash West Coast IPA. And for the wine enthusiasts Brooklyn's Red Hook Winery will be showcasing their acclaimed Guardian Meritage, joined by California's Scholium Project who will be feature their premium sauvignon blanc, The Prince in the Caves, just to name a few. In total, this event will feature 32 participants in both the wine and beer categories, hand selected by some of NYC's top brewmasters and sommeliers.
