WHAT: Currently celebrating 30 years of the pioneering Black Rock Coalition, the BRC Orchestra presents a special tribute to Jimi Hendrix and his seminal 1970 live album Band of Gypsys, an influential mix of funk and blues featuring some of the guitarist's most inspired solos.Comprising some of the most accomplished and forward-thinking musicians working today,the BRC Orchestra breathes new life into this era-defining music, featuring special guests Vernon Reid, Corey Glover, Ronny Drayton, Stew, Sophia Ramos, Kelsey Warren, Andre Lassalle and more.

WHAT: The SOURCE360 Festival returns to Brooklyn for its second year, with an all-new fresh lineup of hip hop artists performances, panels, workshops, parties and more! Performances by Waka Flocka Flame, Scarface, Faith Evans, Chase N. Cashe, Smoke Dza, Brand Nubian, Doug E. Fresh, Joe Budden, Dead Prez, Casey Veggies, DMC, OG Maco and other special guests, as well as a few surprise pop-up concerts.

The SOURCE360 Speaker Series will offer panel discussions conducted by thought leaders and entrepreneurs in the art, music, film & television, media, tech and fashion industries. There will also be a number of workshops and classes, including a Hip-Hop Dance Class this Friday, from 7-9 at Mark Morris Dance Studio!

WHAT: This is the final weekend to take part in the Brookyn Beat Festival! The fourth annual Brooklyn BEAT (Brooklyn Emerging Artists in Theatre) Festival is a performing arts initiative for the residents of Brooklyn that seeks to express the borough's profound diversity, celebrate the area's finest spaces and unify its broad, expansive community! BEAT is wholly dedicated to fostering and creating new audiences for Brooklyn's finest performing artists. Through the BEAT Festival and educational programming, BEAT is creating a live, interactive performance study of Brooklyn—the grounds of the richest performing arts community in the world.

WHAT: Haiti Cultural Exchange Presents An n' Pale, where author Gina Athena Ulysse discusses her new book "Why Haiti Needs New Narratives: A Post Quake Chronicle."  A full professor of Anthropology at Wesleyan University, feminist anthropologist and performance artist, Gina Athena Ulysse embarked on a writing spree that lasted over two years. She is the author of "Downtown Ladies: Informal Commercial Importers", a "Haitian Anthropologist and Self-Making in Jamaica" and guest editor of e-misférica's "Caribbean Rasanblaj" issue. To learn more about the author and her work, visit her website.

WHAT: The Sphinx Returns is a curated season of performance art and contemporary performance. The season investigates the artist as mythmaker and performance art and contemporary performance as the mythologies of our time, setting the course for a history of the future. The Sphinx Returns is a return to questioning, mythology, and new ideas, asking how do we encourage and gain new ways of seeing and understanding. The inclusion of short form actions, endurance, durational, performance for video, installations and sound work will offer insight into artistic practice as a means towards a new mythology. Allowing mystery to pervade the space of the now instigates active and real-time relationships between the artist and the public.
