After a year of planning, the Pink Houses community farm has opened!
Lead organizer of the effort, East New York Farms, along with the Pink Houses Resident Green Committee and Tenants Association, NYCHA staff, the Italian-American Civil Rights League, the Fort Greene Council, United Neighborhood Houses and its member agencies, United Way of NYC, the Tisch Illumination Fund, Green City Force, and the Lawyers Alliance for New York finally were excited to finally plant the first beds and get the project up and running.
And on Thursday, August 13, the public was invited out to East New York, Brooklyn, for a chance to tour the farm, meet the farmers and enjoy locally-grown products!
Enjoy these pics of that special day!
