Erica Garner, the daughter of Eric Garner, the Staten Island man who died as a result of a police chokehold in July, said her father's makeshift memorial was burned to the ground by vandals on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the New York Post reports.

Just hours earlier, Reverend Al Sharpton and the Garner family led a candlelight vigil of over 100 people in Tompkinsville, the location of Eric Garner's fatal encounter and subsequent memorial.ericgarnervigil_16x9Outraged, Erica Garner lashed out on Twitter after she witnessed the memorial in ruins:

"Evil set my dad's memorial on fire tonight but cant erase his legacy," Garner tweeted. "Rebuild 2morrow."

Despite Erica Garner's claims of vandalism, police said they believe a candle accidentally fell and burned down the memorial.

What do you think? Was it an accident or arson?
