3. On Monday, January 12, 7:00pm at Greenlight Bookstore, Chang-rae Lee presents On Such A Full Sea. Lee is a deeply influential writer about race, class and immigrant life in America, He has been honored with a PEN/Hemingway Prize and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. In his highly praised novel On Such a Full Sea, Lee offers a departure from his earlier work: a chilling dystopia, a century or so beyond the present, where abandoned post-industrial cities have been converted into forced labor colonies and populated with immigrant workers.

4. The 81st Precinct Community Council, covering the eastern end of Bed-Stuy, will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 13, 7:00pm, at 1958 Fulton Street.

5. Community Board 2, covering the neighborhoods of Brooklyn Heights, Fulton Mall, Boerum Hill, Fort Greene, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Fulton Ferry and Clinton Hill, will hold its general monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 14, 6:30pm, at St. Francis College, 180 Remsen Street (Clinton and Court streets), Seventh Floor Theater in Brooklyn Heights.

6. Community Board 8, covering the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Prospect Heights and Weeksville, will hold its general monthly meeting on Thursday, January 15, 7:00pmat the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, 727 Classon Avenue (between Park and Prospect).
