A handful of Bed-Stuy residents were horrified when they walked outside of their buildings on the way to work early Wednesday morning to find a naked woman laying unconscious on the sidewalk in front 400 Tompkins Avenue.
Police were called to the scene just after 5:00am to find a woman, believed to be in her late 30's or 40's, sprawled on the sidewalk with no clothes on and wounds to the back of her head.
An empty prescription bottle for Temazepam, taken for insomnia, was found near her body. And police said, she is believed to have overdosed and fell outside of the building, which likely would account for her head injuries.
The victim was pronounced dead at Interfaith Hospital. The Medical Examiner is working on an exact cause of death.
