Summer is almost over, but that doesn't mean your fitness regime also has to end. In fact, fall is the best time to ramp up your physical activity outdoors.

Need a motivated (and free) health and fitness partner to get you started?

This Saturday, September 13 and next Saturday, September 27, the Myrtle Avenue Revitalization Project (MARP) will kick off "Let's Move, Fort Greene: Walk with a Doc!"

Inspired by the Brownsville Partnership's success with its own "Walk with a Doc" event series, MARP's mission is to provide an opportunity for residents to connect with local health professionals who can offer guidance and support while moving together and feeling the benefits of a brisk, refreshing walk led by a certified trainer around Fort Greene Park.img_2367Stroll with a licensed fitness instructor with NY Road Runners and community physicians, specialists and healthcare professionals and get answers to your health-related questions.

"New Physical Activity programming like this complements our existing food access work, bringing awareness to the food & health issues facing many residents of Fort Greene, especially those with low-incomes and seniors,", says Kassy Nystrom, MARP Director, Healthy Communities Initiative.

Walk with a Doc is presented in collaboration with the Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center, the Brooklyn Hospital Center, Cumberland Diagnostic & Treatment Center, New York Road Runners, Prominis and St. Joseph's College.
