Police Arrest Gunman on MacDougal St

Public Housing Police arrested a shooter on MacDougal Street in Brownsville, moments after the suspect shot and killed another man nearby.

According to reports, the incident happened on Saturday, September 6, at around 7:00am, when plain clothed officers assigned to Police Service Area 2 were on patrol in the vicinity of 268 MacDougal Street. Police witnessed the suspect shooting at the victim, at which time a foot pursuit ensued. The officers apprehended the shooter who had ducked behind a parked car and was attempting to hide the gun.

Police recovered a silver .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver under the auto. Concurrently, additional officers discovered the 34-year-old male victim lying on the ground, unconscious and unresponsive with 2 gunshot wounds to the torso.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
