August is National Breastfeeding Month and the 20th anniversary of the New York State Civil Rights Law that protects a woman's right to breastfeed in public (NY CLS Civ R 79-e).
On Friday, August 1, from 11:00am - 1:00pm, City Councilmember Robert Cornegy, along with a handful of community partners, will lead the 6th Annual Breastfeeding Walk, a 2.3 mile trek through Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights to bring greater awareness to the importance of breastfeeding as the first food of choice for infants.
The walk will start and end in the West Plaza of Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, 1360 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11216.
If you are interested in signing up for the walk or volunteering along the route to cheer, register participants, set up or hand out water, go here.
