From July through November, GrowNYC distributes Fresh Foodboxes containing 7-9 seasonal fruits and vegetables, for only $10 at 16 sites across New York City.

GrowNYC's Fresh Foodbox Program is a food access initiative that allows underserved communities to purchase fresh, healthy, locally-grown produce in pre-packed boxes containing the best of what's seasonally available on regional farms, such as fresh eggs, honey, fresh herbs, greens, grains, fresh fruit, seasonal vegetables and more!

Similar to CSA, Fresh Foodbox customers can take advantage of the cost benefits of buying in a group, and enjoy the quality, variety and flexibility to buy by the week rather than by the season.

Here are the locations in Brooklyn (with two locations in Bed-Stuy)!

Ace Head Start, 1419-23 Broadway; Wednesdays, 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Bishop Sexton Headstart, 933 Herkimer Street, Wednesdays, 1:30pm - 4:30pm

YMCA, 570 Jamaica Avenue, Fridays, 3:30pm - 6:30pm

Halsey Community Garden, Saturdays, 11:00am - 2:30pm

How to Get a Fresh Foodbox:

#1. Go to a Fresh Food Box site on the day and time indicated (above). Site coordinators will be wearing a shirt that says GrowNYC. You may have to stand in line.

#2. Pay $10 to the site coordinator, and give them your name and a way to reach you, either by email or phone. You can also use cash, credit, debit or EBT to pay for your Fresh Food Box.

#3. The following week, same day and time, go back to the site. The site coordinator will have a bag of seasonal produce for you to pick up! Sign up again that day for the following week!
