In celebration of its 115th Anniversary, the St. Philip's Episcopal Church, located at 334 MacDonough St in Bed-Stuy, welcomed a special visit on Sunday by the Presiding Bishop the Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori.

She was joined by the Bishop of the Diocese of Long Island, The Right Reverend Lawrence Provenzano and received with great enthusiasm by the church's Rector Reverend Carver Israel, and the Episcopal community of Central Brooklyn.

Bishop Schori was elected Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in June 2006 and currently serves as chief pastor and primate to the church's members in 16 countries across 110 dioceses

She joins with other principal bishops of the 38-member Provinces of the worldwide Anglican Communion, seeking a common cause for global good and reconciliation.
