Beginning June 27 through August 29, 2014, kids under 18 can get free summer meals (breakfast and lunch) from New York City at over 300 locations city wide, no questions asked.
It's for all New York City children, regardless of income. No papers are required. Children do not need to show registration, documentation or an ID to receive their meals.
Free lunch and breakfast will be handed out at hundreds of NYC public pools, parks and schools.

Just text "nycmeals" to 877-877 or call 311 or 1-800-522-5006, provide your zip code, and the operator will tell you where you can find free meals.
The operator will ask for an address or even an intersection, such as the corner of Fulton and Washington avenues. The operator will give you the nearest location to the site. For example, here are two locations near the 11216 area code in Bed-Stuy:
Masjid Abu Mushi, 129 Madison Avenue (breakfast from 8:00am - 9:00am; and lunch from 11:30am - 1:30pm, Monday through Friday), beginning July 1, 2014.
Masjid At-Taqwa, 1266 Bedford Avenue (breakfast from 7:00am - 9:30am; and lunch from 12:00pm - 1:30pm, Monday through Friday), beginning July 7, 2014.
The food, they promise, will be "delicious sandwiches, tasty salads, fresh fruit, cold milk."
*If you call, and there is no location in your area readily available, check back again after the July 4th holiday weekend, as they are still verifying and adding locations between now and July 7.
