It's an abandoned architectural beauty, and we knew it was only a matter of time-- days, in fact-- that the brick building off of Franklin Avenue between Dean and Bergen in Crown Heights would be purchased, renovated and converted.

Over the past three years, that particular area of the Franklin Avenue corridor, had seen an explosion of new business openings. And the building, located at 937 Bergen Street, seemed like the last major final frontier.

The building, which includes a 21,929-square-foot parcel that once housed the Nassau Brewery, soon will be raised to make way for an eight-story, 119-unit residential building, reported The Real Deal.

Listed in October for $18 million, the site hit the market one week after City Council approved a rezoning of Crown Heights West that made residential development possible.
