Following complaints by residents that the Fort Greene Farmer's Market was catering to new, wealthy residents only, Community Board 2 approved expanding the outdoor organic bazaar to bring it closer to residents of public housing.

Shoppers say it's a good move, because people in the neighborhood need better prices and better quality of fresh vegetables and fruits, both of which are hard to find.

"I think the more farmer markets we have and the more access everyone has to farmer's markets, the better," said one shopper.

"It's fresh vegetable, it's healthy vegetables, and what could be more beneficial?" another said.

"It would be a healthy thing " said a third.

In addition to making the market bigger, advocates from Grow NYC say they hope to bring more diverse vendors as part of the expansion.
