On Thursday, May 22, from 6:30pm – 9:30pm, the Crown Heights Mediation Center will present this year’s art for the Arts to End Violence contest at the Ron Taylor Gallery, located at 1160 St. Johns Place in Crown Heights.

The Mediation Center is home to anti-violence programs Save Our Streets Crown Heights (S.O.S.) and Youth Organizing to Save Our Streets (YO S.O.S.).

In addition to the annual art contest, Arts to End Violence presents a series of community events that brings together everyone in the Crown Heights community and beyond.

Schools, businesses, community residents and neighborhood organizations come together to celebrate creativity, community mobilization and the importance of speaking out against violence.

Join S.O.S. for the gallery opening to see the pieces and to celebrate anti-violence art.

Also, on May 31, at 760 Prospect Place, the S.O.S. Clergy Action Network will hold a Community Youth Symposium on issues such as self image, conflict resolution, and entrepreneurship.

The symposium will also include sessions for adults and clergy. Call 718-467-3264 or 347-633-1651 to register or for more information.
