Who would conceive of such a thing?

According to Brooklyn Borough President Erica Adams, it's not merely a thought. It's the plan.

Adams filed a recommendation late April with the City Planning Commission that, if approved, would allow developers to build up to 10 stories along a 4-mile stretch of Broadway Ave that includes Bushwick, Williamsburg and Bed-Stuy, reported The Daily News.

"This is going to be prime real estate," Adams said. "We can't create new land, but we do have lots of air rights."

In an effort to work with the mayor and make way for 200,000 more affordable units across the city, Adams envisions complexes designated for a mixture of incomes — 50 percent market rate, 30 middle and 20 low-income.

Adams said he expects some pushback but feels, in the end, most residents will agree on the need for affordable housing.
