A woman suffered minor injuries Sunday night when a car sideswiped her as she was crossing Bedford Ave at the intersection of Lafayette Ave, according to emergency personnel on the scene.

Police and EMS were called to the scene at around 8:55pm after a woman who was crossing the street was hit by a car that was traveling north on Bedford Avenue.

According to witnesses, the woman was wearing headphones and crossing the street against the light when the incident occurred.

"Two [pedestrians] were going in one direction and she was coming from the other direction, they bumped into each other," said one man, a local business owner, who said he witnessed the entire thing. "At the same time, there was a bike going down Bedford Avenue in the direction of traffic.

"So when the bike saw they were crossing against the light, it tried to go around them at the last minute, and then the guy in the car ended up trying to maneuver around the woman and ended up sideswiping her."

EMS were trying to calm the woman down as she laid in the street and chaos erupted. She kept saying, "She pushed me, she pushed me," said another man of the injured woman.

"I didn't hurt her like that," said the driver, pacing nervously back and forth. "I hit her with my side view mirror. Listen, they were all walking against the light like it was red, and if I didn't have a little skill behind the wheel, they would have all been laid out."
