When Marty Markowitz stepped down from his position as Brooklyn's longtime borough president, we should have known it wouldn't be the last we'd hear from him.

His personality, his presence (and his voice) simply were too big to shrink away quietly.

Markowitz has landed a new job: He will serve as the Vice President of Borough Promotion and Engagement for NYC & Company.

What does that mean? It means he will be the voice of Brooklyn! ... And the Bronx, Staten Island and Queens, encouraging tourism to the outer-boroughs.

It may seem a strange notion that Markowitz could promote any place other than Brooklyn. But one place he will not be promoting in his new role is Manhattan.

Now every neighborhood in the outer boroughs will benefit from the energy Markowitz brings as its ambassador, said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said of Markowitz's new role.

"There have been few who have connected with the spirit of this borough and this city like Marty," said Adams. "Of course, I fully expect that his greatest contribution will be to his beloved borough of Brooklyn.

"I look forward to exciting announcements in the future on how we will further expand the Brooklyn tourism boom."
