WHAT: Witness: Art and Civil Rights in the Sixties offers a focused look at painting, sculpture, graphics, and photography from a decade defined by social protest and American race relations. In observance of the fiftieth anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, this exhibition considers how sixty-six of the decade's artists, including African Americans and some of their white, Latino, Asian American, Native American, and Caribbean contemporaries, used wide-ranging aesthetic approaches to address the struggle for racial justice.

WHAT: Imaginative Dance with Erica Essner--Stretch your bodies and imaginations as you help create a dance with performers from the Erica Essner Performance Co-Op. Kids will watch an exciting new dance and participate with movement and imaginative scenes.

WHAT: Hip Hop House Party with Ralph McDaniel and Special Guests. For some, it's Eat Sleep Break Beat—life is all about the fundamentals of hip hop: break dance, DJ, graffiti art, and rap. Daytime activities include Protest Song Karaoke (a chance to sing your songs of protest) and screenings of street dance from YAK Films, followed by live dance performances throughout BRIC House. Hip hop pioneer Ralph McDaniels, creator of the groundbreaking public access TV show, Video Music Box, will be spinning the turntables and playing videos from back in the day, plus performances by Dres (Black Sheep), Crooklyn Dodgers' Special Ed and more, and a celebration of Biggie Smalls to close out the night!

WHAT:  "Life After Death" - Notorious B.I.G. Tribute Exhibition--

March 9, 2014 marks the 17yr anniversary of the passing of Christopher "Notrious B.I.G." Wallace. This exhibit shines a light on his legacy with some of the hottest, most buzz worthy and leading visual artists. Their artwork will be showcased alongside the lyrics of Biggie Smalls to also highlight the relationship between Hip-Hop and Contemporary Fine Art with the unique themes present in these selected works.
