The Brooklyn Queens Land Trust (BQLT) is seeking candidates to serve as board members.

Experience and specific skills, such as property management, community organizing, accounting, promotions and marketing, finance or banking, environmental science, property law, horticulture and or fundraising and grant-writing would be valuable assets for the Board.

The Brooklyn Queens Land Trust (BQLT) is an independent land trust composed of 32 of the BQLT community-gardens saved from the 1999 city auction, and a new garden conveyed in December 2013. We are currently grounded in 16 neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens.

Incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in 2004, BQLT will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year. BQLT is a 501 © (3) tax exempt organization, and one of the largest urban land trusts in the United States. The 15-member BQLT board of Directors consists of gardeners and resource persons.

The mission of BQLT is to educate and inspire people of all ages to become successful and environmentally responsible gardeners. We plan to add new gardens in the future.  We need skilled persons to help us lead, build and manage our new land trust beyond our garden gates.  To this end, we seek the guidance of a strong Board of Directors working with garden members, to ensure that BQLT will prosper and survive.

The deadline for nomination is February 17, 2014.

Sincerely,

The BQLT Nominating Committee:

Iris Harvell, Chairperson

Please mail applications and resume by February 17, 2014 to:
