Here's a rundown of a few things you should know about the week ahead in Central Brooklyn:

2. Expect a yo-yo type of week for weather, with temps as high as 50 degrees today, dropping back down into the teens tomorrow.

3. Community Board 3, representing Bedford-Stuyvesant and parts of Crown Heights will hold its monthly meeting this week, on Monday, January 6, 7:00 pm, at Restoration Plaza, located at 1368 Fulton Street. The public is welcome.

4. Community Board 2, representing Fort Greene/Clinton Hill and parts of Brooklyn Heights, will hold its monthly meeting this week, on Wednesday, January 8, 6:00 pm, at Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Street at Court Street map (Community Room). Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams will be in attendance at this month's CB2 meeting!

5. If you love live music, then come on out to Phat Tuesdays at Soco Restaurant, every Tuesday evening, from 7:00pm — 11:00pm, for a live jazz celebration, featuring cocktail and dinner specials. This week's house band: The Antonio Dangerfield Quartet & Special Guests. Soco Restaurant is located at 509 Myrtle Avenue between Ryerson Street and Grand Avenue Brooklyn.

6. Shakespear's King Lear opens at BAM this week, Tuesday, January 7, starring Frank Langella. Langella joins forces with Britain's Olivier Award-winning company Chichester Festival Theatre to present this monumental interpretation of the Bard's tragedy. 7. Also, Sarah King and the Smokerings play live at Chez Oskar every Wednesday night, 8:00pm — 10:00pm. Come by and get your jazzy on. Chez Oskar is located at 211 Dekalb Avenue at Adelphi Street Brooklyn.

8. The Senate will vote today, Monday, January 6, on whether or not they will advance a bipartisan bill that offers a three-month extension of emergency longer-term unemployment benefits for the roughly 1.3 million long-term unemployed.
